Micah - 9 Months

Someone fetch me my smelling salts.  Micah can't possibly be nine months old today, can he?  Didn't I just bring that little fart home from the hospital like yesterday?  What's even crazier is that Isaiah was only nine months old when we "pulled the goalie" and started trying for Baby #2 (aka Micah)!  Settle down there, grandmas.  That is sooooo not happening this time around.

Micah at 9 months old:
  • Despite his size (we'll get to that later), he is a quick-moving buggar.  He still doesn't lift his belly off the floor to crawl, but he can army crawl across a room in the blink of an eye.
  • Three teeth!  His bottom two teeth were recently joined by an incisor from the top of his gums and its incisor twin from the left side of the gum is threatening to pop out and join the party any day now.  Because of these emerging teeth, Micah's been a bit on the crankier side and hasn't been sleeping as well.  Thank goodness for Baby Orajel and Tylenol!
  • He will eat anything you put in front of him.  Micah already devours the baby risotto I made for Isaiah at 10 months old.  He loves to shovel steamed veggies into his mouth hand over fist.  He will easily eat two scrambled eggs for breakfast and then munch on his brother's leftover toast crusts.  I can't keep up with this kid's appetite!
  • Boy is big.  I won't know his official weight and where he lands on the chart until his appointment at the pedi later this month, but let's put it in perspective for you.  Isaiah was 21 pounds, 8 ounces at 9 months old and was just starting to fit into a couple 12 month items of clothing.  Micah has been wearing 12 month clothing for some time now.  Actually, he's grown out of most of them and wears predominantly 18 or 24 month clothing.  Like I said, boy is big.
  • Micah is not yet pulling up on things or trying to stand.  I hate to compare brother to brother again, but I'm going to because it's all I've got.  Isaiah could stand up in his crib at 8 months and by 9 months, was cruising along furniture and trying to stand on his own.  Micah has not even shown an inkling of this.  He's more content to just sit there and observe!
  • He loves, loves, loves to be in the water.  Bathtub, kiddie pool, whatever.  He will splash away until the cows come home if you let him.
  • Takes two naps a day, usually around 8:30 or 9:00 am and then again in the early afternoon.  Teething has made this a little problematic, but he's usually pretty good about falling asleep on his own.  He has his last bottle of the evening around 6:30 or 7:00 and goes to bed shortly after.  Unfortunately, Micah is an early riser and usually stirs in the area of 5:30 am!  On a lucky day, he'll sleep until 6:00 or 6:30.
  • Bald.
I need to start planning Micah's first birthday party.  Oh my.

Seriously, where are those smelling salts?
