When I was growing up, I always loved staying up late with my parents on New Year's Eve to watch the ball drop in Times Square. It was so iconic and impressive that it was worth the sometimes daunting task of keeping my eyelids open until midnight. Now that I'm older and have two small children, I often find it even more difficult to stay awake that late. While others are out partying it up and just getting their night off to a kickstart, I'm here thinking about how my eyes are burning because it is
clearly past my bedtime.
Be that as it may, it was really nice to watch the ball drop to welcome in 2011. Evan took a break from Mario Kart to switch the TV back over to cable, we watched it count down the last 20 seconds or so, shared a New Year's kiss and enjoyed a toast in our wedding champagne flutes. Mind you, that whole sequence of events took about 45 seconds and then Mario Kart resumed.
We party hard here, people.
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing to celebrate the new year, I hope you enjoy it! I don't know about you, but I am
really excited for 2011!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
