Country Ribs in Gravy
- 3 pounds country style pork ribs
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1 can beef broth (I used the lower sodium stuff)
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
DIRECTIONS:
Place half the sliced onion in the crock pot. Place ribs on top of onions and cover with remaining onions. Combine remaining ingredients in a jar and shake, shake, shake! Pour seasoning liquid over the ribs. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour; reduce heat to low and cook 3-4 hours longer. Remove ribs to serving platter and keep warm. Meanwhile, make a rue in a skillet on the stovetop with butter and flour to thicken the cooking liquid for gravy. Yum!!
I served this with mashed potatoes (Shhh....I used the instant Betty Crocker stuff) and steamed broccoli. The gravy was definitely the finishing touch that took this to "killer," but the pork really was great. So tender, it just fell off the bones.
Make this. Soon. The man you feed it to will thank you.
