Thomas - 5 Months

Oh how different babies can be.

Sure, Thomas looks like he belongs as part of the "set" of sons I've created here, but it's just amazing how babies can develop so differently and on their own time schedule. I sneaked a peek back at the post about Micah at 5 months old and after I fainted in shock over the photo of him with rolls on his wrists, I read all about the things he was doing that Thomas isn't even close to doing yet. I like that Thomas is taking his time with this whole growing up thing. He must know he's my last baby and that I'm in no hurry for him to get all big on me.

Thomas at 5 months old:

  • Sleep regression!!! Out of the blue, this child has suddenly decided he needs to eat at around 1:30 or 2:00 in the stinking morning! We went from him sleeping for about 12 uninterrupted blissful hours every night to him waking at 4:30 or so to eat to now waking up twice! As if the 2 am feeding weren't enough, he's usually back to hollering for more around 5:30 or 6:00 am. I'm ready for that mess to be done asap.
  • Not really taking to solid foods very well.  We've tried giving Thomas the cereal plain and mixed with some prunes and he has wanted nothing to do with it either way.  I chalked it up to him just not being ready, but since he started waking up all Starvin' Marvin, I think we'll be working at this more and more.
  • Is fully capable of rolling over from his belly to his back, but he usually chooses not to.  When he's laying on his back, he usually chooses to just stay that way.  He's started messing around with his feet some, but rarely do I see that boy make any kind of attempt toward rolling over.  He is usually pretty content to just observe and check out whatever mayhem his brothers are causing.

  • He loves loves loves that blanket.  He may be waking up more now, but falling asleep has gotten so much easier since we figured out that he likes to snuggle his blankee.

  • Happy, happy, happy baby.
  • Weaned like a champ!  As soon as I stopped nursing and Thomas became a bottle baby, he has developed a wonderful schedule that he only variates from slightly from day to day.  Really big fan of schedules.  He eats roughly 35 ounces of formula per day, give or take.
  • Wears 9 month sleepers, 9 month pants, but still can squeeze into the 6 month onesies.  Not for long!
  • Really enjoys playing in his ladybug Exersaucer.  I have to cram a stuffed giraffe behind his back to give him a little more support, but he totally digs that thing.

His cheeks are always pink because I can't stop kissing them.
I love you, baby boy.
