Right? S'mores on a stick! What's not to love?
I assembled my ingredients.
So far so good. Heck, the chocolate chips and marshmallows were even on sale at the grocery store, so I was extra stoked.
I waited until after naptime to bust out this delightful activity, thinking that would catch my kids at their best.
Alas, that was not to be the case. Things quickly went wrong.
I melted the chocolate...
....and showed my eldest how to roll the marshamallow in the cracker crumbs. He looked at the treat cross-eyed and then insisted on trying it out for himself.
He did not appreciate being told that "Mommy's going to do the chocolate and you can do the cracker crumbs."
Oh boy.
Do you see the tear rolling down his cheek?
Sobbing, pouting, and otherwise entirely miserable as he coats his chocolate-covered marshmallow in graham cracker crumbs.
And this is the face I get when I say "Smile and show me your marshmallow!"
*Sigh*
Well, certainly Micah fared better in this escapade....right?
Looks promising.
Oh dear. Mean ole Mommy just stepped in and stopped him from eating his fifth marshmallow prior to the chocolate coating step. We are dangerously close to calling this project a bust.
Never mind! As it turns out, finally getting to eat these little morsels was all the remedy they needed to banish the sour faces. That, and a Disney movie.
I'm nothing if not consistent.
