Project Life Tuesday - Week 1

The Mom CreativeWelcome to Project Life Tuesday!

It's finally here....the first week from 2013 with the gorgeous new Seafoam Kit!  I'm thrilled to share it with you!  Just so we're clear here, folks...I am not a "fancy scrapbooker."  There are so many people out there doing some very impressive things with their Project Life albums that involve a combination of digital skills, pretty embellishments, and other fancy-pants techniques.  I'm not one of those.  I keep it pretty simple so that I know I can keep up and avoid becoming overwhelmed.  To me, it's more important to keep the memories than it is to make them look like they came out of a magazine.

I do like to have fun with it though.  :)

If you're looking for inspiration on what others are doing with their Project Life, you can check out my board on Pinterest and be sure to link up on The Mom Creative!

Psssst.....Did you see the video last week that shared the end of my 2012 album?  If not, you can check it out here!

Week 1

I thought briefly about waiting until the new kits come out in May to start my album, but I am so glad I decided to move ahead with the Seafoam kit.  It's such a departure from my comfort zone, but I love it!

I decided to number the weeks on my date cards this year, something I haven't done before.  Of course, this means I'm going to have to go shopping for more Thickers.  :)

Speaking of Thickers.....

Here's a little Instagram from the day of the Rose Bowl I mounted on a grid card with some washi.

Moving on to the right page:

I documented the time I spent working on my 2012 album.  Nothing like putting Project Life into Project Life!

I used two different Cathy Z templates for these two bottom 4x6 spots:

One of my favorite things to document in Project Life is the everyday stuff.  I used a screen shot from one of our favorite TV shows and I mounted it on a grid card with a couple strips of washi.  Anyone else addicted to this show?  Please tell me I'm not alone.

And yes, I am aware that I spelled apocalypse wrong and I did originally write 2012.  Just keeping it real.

This card below just cracks me up.  I took this photo of the treadmill when I finished my workout and I about died laughing when I saw what was on the closed captioning on the screen.  It matched perfectly with my zombie screen shot!

I did goof up a bit and used the 1/2" rounder setting on my new corner rounder for these photos, but I have corrected that to the 1/4" size for Week 2 so it matches the PL kit cards better.

I started to tinker around with the title page a bit, but it is most certainly still a work in progress.  Here's what is looking like so far:

Lots of work to do on it yet.  I'm really excited about how it's going to come together though.  See you next week!

  2. Your week looks awesome! I love the Seafoam kit but didn't buy it (might not buy a kit at all as I have so much stuff!). I hear so many good things about the Walking Dead but haven't watched it yet. Lots of people are addicted to it - lol.

    1. Here's my thing with The Walking Dead. I love the characters and the story line is so gripping. However, I found myself having nightmares because the combination of the zombie and the "who's going to get killed next?" suspense was too much for me. I had to start reading the synopsis of an episode before I watched it so I would know what was going to happen! Once the pressure was off, I could watch without the stress. :) Aren't I a dork?

    1. Cobalt was wonderful and bright for documenting my crazy boys, but I am really excited to see what fun Seafoam is going to bring. I am crazy about some of the new kits coming in May though! Kraft and Honey especially!

  8. I think your weekly layouts are perfect!
I'm like you, and the key for me staying current is not to make each 6x4 or 3x4 slot a mini scrapbook layout...good on those people who can, and manage to stay current...it's just not me!

    1. If I make it too complicated, I could never keep up. Plus, I think part of the beauty of Project Life is its simplicity. I do "fancify" a couple things here and there, but the key to keeping it current for me is keeping it simple. I'm with you, Tamara!

    1. I think it will be hilarious to go back and look in a couple years at what shows we were watching. Perhaps the zombie trend will seem absolutely ridiculous then!
