Playing Hooky

If there has ever been one word to describe me, it would most certainly be REBEL.  I mean, I'm all about breaking the rules, throwing caution to the wind, living life by the seat of my pants with a devil may care attitude.  Yup, that's me alright.

Ok, stop laughing.

So maybe I'm more of a Type A, over-analytic, schedules are my life, rules are wonderful, give me boundaries kind of person.  Perhaps it borders on psychosis, perhaps not.  I know the look on my cousin's face nearly nine years ago when I handed her my three page wedding itinerary would certainly indicate that she, for one, thinks I am certifiably nuts.

But I digress.

Today I am pulling Isaiah from 4K so we can go to the zoo.  Yup, it's supposed to snow.....again.  But we're not going to let that stop us!  We are intrepid explorers!  Pioneers!  Fearless!

Actually, I just really want to go to the zoo and I feel like if I don't start using the zoo pass I bought I will be wasting it.  More importantly, my college pal Marissa is visiting from Minnesota today and I jumped at the opportunity to spend some time with her. I just hope my little monkeys behave themselves so we're able to enjoy our day at the zoo rather than making it feel too much like a chore.  After they pulled THIS on me yesterday:

....let's just say I'm keeping my fingers crossed to avoid a similar meltdown.  In case you're wondering, this particular reaction came after I denied them hot cocoa.  Meanest.  Mom.  Ever.  (At least, that's what my friend Meggan called me on Facebook.  Love you Meggan!  I know you were kidding.)

So today, the zoo.  Tomorrow I am planning on attending a women's conference at our church during the day and then hopping in my car to drive all the way back to my old neighborhood where I get to hang out with another dear friend and former neighbor.  We plan on drinking wine, painting our toenails, prank calling boys, and doing all sorts of other juvenile delights.  Early Sunday morning, we will drop in at the mom & pop restaurant where I worked for nearly seven years for some breakfast and then it's off to the big city to run a St. Patty's Day 5K!  No joke kids, they open the bars early just for the race participants.  It's my first official 5K race and I certainly think I chose the right one!

I'm kind of looking forward to this weekend.  :)

What are you all up to on this St. Patty's Day?  Anyone else dressing up with a shamrock tiara that blinks and running 3.1 miles before indulging in drink specials?  No one?  Guess Julie and I will be holding those spots on our own then.  I'm cool with that.

See you Monday!
